About Artoficial

What is Artoficial Art Experiment all about?

Artoficial is an art experiment to find answers to the age-old questions – what really dictates the value of the art piece? Who decides how much is any piece worth? Why re-selling of art pieces usually leaves the artist out of the equation? With Art experiment Artoficial, we would like to find out how might we change the course of money in art business?

What does the word “Artoficial” mean?

Artoficial – the first and the most transparent way of pricing art works in the world. The artist doesn’t name the price, but the audience is doing it themselves.

This makes Artoficial the official art platform and Art is official in it.

What determines the price for each Artwork?

The price of a particular Artwork depends on the current number of subscribers on Artoficial YouTube channel, multiplied by the sequence number of the Artwork. Artworks are indexed by completion time throughout the whole experiment.
For example, if the Artoficial YouTube channel has 100 subscribers, the artwork #1 will be priced at 100€, the artwork #2 will be priced at 200€ etc. As the number of subscribers changes, so does the price.
For clarity, each individual subscriber may not affect the price of the Artwork, because the price depends on the number displayed publicly about Artoficial YouTube channels’ subscribers. Such number may be rounded in accordance with YouTube rules.

How often does the system check the number of subscribers on YouTube?

Our website checks the number of subscribers on Artoficial YouTube channel every 5 minutes.
We keep a log record of all of the changes of our YouTube channels’ subscriptions.

What happens to the price when people unsubscribe from the channel?

Each individual subscription or unsubscription may not affect the price of the Artwork, because YouTube is rounding the number of subscribers in YouTube, showing the public number of subscribers in a rounded way.

How does YouTube show the number of subscribers of the channel?

YouTube will provide only rounded figures instead of actual follower numbers.
All channels on YouTube have their subscriber counts displayed on a sliding scale.
Up until 1,000 subscribers, the full tally will be shown. After that it will begin rounding them off.
For example, if a channel has 112,017 subscribers, the public subscriber count will read “112K” until the channel reaches 113,000 (when the counter will tick over to “113K”). Channels with under 42 million will have their public subscriber count read “41M” until it hits 42,000,000.

How to buy
How can I buy the Artwork that I like?

To buy an Artwork, the desired Artwork (or Artworks) must be added to the cart (the “Cart”). As it is one unique work of art, but several people may have an interest in it, a very limited reservation option is provided in the Store. The very second you click the “Add to Cart” button to buy the product, the Artwork is reserved for you only for the next 20 minutes. You should act fast in order to buy the product, because after 20 minutes, other buyers can buy the Artwork (unless a payment has been made and the Artwork has been sold). The customer can conveniently monitor the remaining time as there is a corresponding counter displayed on Website. The countdown is activated when the customer clicks the “Add to Cart” button for the Artwork.

You do not have to register an account to purchase an Artwork. Once the desired Artworks have been added to the Cart, please click “Proceed to Checkout”. In order to place the order, the required data fields (billing and shipping details) must be filled in. You will then be shown the amount of the total fees. There are several payment methods available (such as PayPal, credit cards (Visa, MasterCard), and direct bank payment links for Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania). You must pay the sales price of the Artwork and the delivery costs in full in advance. Only after paying, you will receive a confirmation about the purchase, and we will start preparing the Artwork for shipping.

Upon receipt of payment to the Artoficial’s account, the sales contract has been concluded. As noted above, an automatic order confirmation will be sent to your e-mail address. Please note that a commission agreement will be concluded at the same time.
